Walk-in patients are seen by the first available GP in order of clinical need, so someone who arrives after you may be seen first if their problem is more urgent. Reception will give you an idea of the wait when you arrive.

Outside walk-in hours, call (03) 6351 5610 or send an urgent appointment request online and we will do our best to see you the same day.
Reception will triage you to the first available GP. Most of the GPs who work from Health Nexus also show same-day and next-day appointments on AutoMed and HotDoc.

On-site services when you need them
A pathology collection centre operates in the building on weekdays, so blood tests ordered during your visit can usually be taken straight away. Emergency and after-hours dental care is available through Launceston Dentists at Health Nexus, and we have free patient parking on site.
Fees for walk-in and same-day visits
Health Nexus Launceston is a mixed-billing practice. Children aged 12 and under, pension card holders over 65 and DVA Gold Card holders are bulk billed for consultations on weekdays between 8am and 5pm. Everyone else pays the standard consultation fee with the Medicare rebate claimed on the spot. After-hours loadings apply before 8am on weekdays and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays — the full table is on our fees page.

Do I need an appointment at Health Nexus Launceston?
No. You can walk in between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays or 1pm and 3pm at weekends, or call (03) 6351 5610 or use the online urgent request form for a same-day appointment. Booking ahead through AutoMed or HotDoc will usually mean a shorter wait.
How long will I wait as a walk-in patient?
It depends on how many people are waiting and how urgent each problem is — patients are seen in order of clinical need, not arrival. Reception will give you an estimate when you arrive. Outside walk-in hours, a same-day appointment booked by phone or online usually means a shorter wait.
Can a walk-in patient see their usual GP?
Walk-in and urgent appointments go to the first available doctor. If you would prefer your usual GP, ask reception — if they are consulting that day we will try to fit you in with them, otherwise you can book their next available appointment.
Are you open on Christmas Day and New Year's Day?
Yes. Christmas Day, New Year's Day and all other public holidays run on our standard hours for that day of the week.
Is the walk-in clinic bulk billed?
The same billing rules apply as for any consultation: children 12 and under, pension card holders over 65 and DVA Gold Card holders are bulk billed on weekdays between 8am and 5pm; other patients pay the standard fee with the rebate claimed on the spot, and after-hours loadings apply outside those hours.
